We had a great time hosting Dr. Damla Eroglu for a seminar visit to the Chemical and Mechanical Engineering Departments at UMass Lowell. Thank you to Prof. Nese Orbey for co-hosting, and to everyone who joined the talk and engaged in the discussion. We appreciate Dr. Eroglu sharing her recent work and enjoyed the opportunity for thoughtful conversations with students and faculty. We lookContinue reading

We are excited to share two new publications from our group. Eylül’s paper explores how alkali cations influence redox matching and capacity access in redox-mediated flow batteries. Sergio’s paper shows that coordinated EV, PV, and battery management, particularly with V2G, can substantially increase grid hosting capacity while reducing voltage and transformer aging issues. Congratulations to Eylül and SergioContinue reading

Our lab is excited to share two new publications from our team in the Journal of The Electrochemical Society. Dan’s paper, “Design Considerations for Solid Charge Storage Materials in Redox-Mediated Flow Batteries,” provides a framework for designing solid boosters to increase flow-battery energy density. Shabdiki’s paper, “Leveraging Flow-Assisted Electrochemistry to Decarbonize Calcium Hydroxide Production in Cement Manufacturing,”demonstrates a flow-electrolysisContinue reading

Ertan has been invited to present at the 24th Annual Sukant Tripathy Memorial Symposium, taking place at UMass Lowell . His talk, titled “Toward High-Performance Redox Flow Batteries for Grid-Scale Energy Storage,” highlighted recent innovations from the lab, including advanced electrodes and high-energy-density redox-mediated systems. It was an honor to be part of this symposium.

We are excited to share that Sergio has led the publication of two new papers: “The impact of energy storage on the reliability of wind and solar power in New England”& “The benefits of long-duration energy storage for New England’s energy system decarbonization goals.” Congrats to Sergio and the team for these significant contributions!
